A key Senate committee voted to advance comprehensive crypto market structure legislation on Tuesday, bringing the industry’s top policy goal one step closer to becoming law.
The bill would establish clear jurisdictional lines between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, ending years of regulatory ambiguity that pushed companies offshore.
Industry groups praised the vote as historic. “For the first time, we have a viable path to clear rules of the road in the United States,” one trade association said. The bill now heads to the full Senate, where its prospects remain uncertain but advocates are optimistic.
