The aggregate supply of U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoins has climbed to a record $230 billion, according to onchain data, extending a two-year growth streak.
Stablecoins have quietly become one of crypto’s most successful products, powering cross-border payments, remittances, and trading across the globe. Monthly transfer volumes now rival those of major card networks.
“Stablecoins are crypto’s first true mainstream use case,” one researcher said. “They solve a real problem — fast, cheap dollars anywhere in the world.” The sector is also drawing serious attention from banks and fintechs, several of which have announced their own tokenized dollar products this year.
